Let's have fun and run together! In the spring there will be 10 day running trip in Portugal! Most of us will sign up for a destination trail race with a 10k and a 25km distance.

Day 1 Arrival in Lisbon, Friday April 19
Arrive in the capital of Portugal any time this morning or afternoon for an airport transfer and group lunch in Lisbon together. The afternoon is yours to stretch your legs and explore the neighborhood before our group dinner and get some good sleep before we head out in the morning.

Day 2 Saturday April 20
Wake up for group breakfast at the hotel and depart mid-morning for our transfer to Batalla or Otovasa and an afternoon in Nazaré, home of the GIANT waves. Nazaré also has a great ice cream shop we can check out to calorie load for tomorrow’s intense trail race in the Sanguinhal wine region. We’ll pick up our race packets late afternoonbefore heading to our hotel in Cartaxo and a group dinner.

Day 3 Sunday April 21 RACE DAY
Race day! Wake up on your own time for breakfast, we’ll all transfer to the race for the 9:30 and 9:45 starts and back at the end or in shifts, based on finishes. If there are any travellers not running, another group activity will be organized or suggested or you can spectate or have a leisurely morning at the hotel. The afternoon will be for a late group lunch, naps, and recovery. After a group dinner to celebrate our races, we’ll all probably want a good night’s sleep.

Day 4 Monday April 22 Recovery day - Peniche
Wake up on your own for breakfast and we’ll depart the hotel at 10 to start a wine tour with lunch included. We’ll be back at the hotel around 4 or 5 to depart for Peniche for our next adventure. Arrive in the quaint Atlantic coastal town of Peniche for dinner.

Day 5 Tuesday April 23 Peniche to Cascais
Wake up for breakfast at the hotel and be ready for a morning walking tour in the town of Peniche. After the tour and some sightseeing, we’ll have leisurely lunch in town, then pack up and head south down the coast to another gorgeous coastal resort town, Cascais. Once we check in the hotel in Cascais, the afternoon is yours to explore the beaches, the medieval architecture, and see some of the famous blue and white azulejo tiles that Portugal is known for. Dinner is on your own tonight but recommendations will be provided!

Day 6 April 24 Cascais, Sintra, and your choice in the afternoon!
This morning, breakfast will be as a group so we can debrief about the day. We’ll head out right after breakfast to Sintra for a guided tour of the town and castle. Group lunch will be in Sintra and we’ll return to our Cascais hotel in the mid afternoon where you can check out anything you missed the day before or take an Uber to a nearby town like Mafra after returning in the afternoon. Dinner as a group in Cascais.

Day 7 April 25- Cascais to Lisbon
Wake up at your leisure for breakfast at the hotel, pack up afterward, and we’ll depart for Lisbon mid-morning. We’ll drop our bags at the hotel before heading out as a group on a 3 hour walking food tour in Lisbon. This will be our walking lunch as we taste our way through yummy Portuguese specialties. After lunch, you can make your way back to the hotel for a nap, or keep exploring Lisbon on foot. We’ll have a late group dinner in Lisbon.

Day 8 April 26 Lisbon
Breakfast at our hotel is as a group this morning so we can all leave together for Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Evora has more than 2,000 years of history and weathered a 1755 earthquake that nearly leveled Lisbon. Evora's Roman temple and aqueduct and a medieval cathedral and bone chapel will enthrall history buffs and architecture nerds alike.
On the way back to Lisbon we’ll visit a cork factory and tour and taste at an olive oil farm.
Enjoy your last free evening in Lisbon with dinner on your own.

Day 9 April 27 – Lisbon
Last full day in Lisbon as a group! Enjoy breakfast on your time but be ready to head out in Lisbon on foot for our tour of the Jeronimos monastery and Torre de Belem, the 16th century tower that was a point of embarkation and disembarkation for Portuguese explorers and a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. After the morning tours we’ll have a late group lunch and the afternoon is yours to see final Lisbon sights or souvenir shop. Our last night in Lisbon will start with a rooftop cocktail, wine, or mocktail and then we’ll transfer to our final group dinner to say goodbyes.

Day 10 April 28 – head home or beyond!
This morning is at your leisure with breakfast, packing and departure. If you’re departing today, you can book flights to leave any time today and be transferred to the airport for home or to your next destination. If you’re staying extra days in Lisbon, enjoy!

The focus of this trip is not yoga though, it is an aid in recovery for the run. This trip is all about the race, enjoying the outdoors, and visiting a place that may be new to you! This is not your typical Portugal trip. At the end of our time in Faro together, you'll be transferred back to Lisbon to spend time there, head elsewhere in Portugal or Europe, or home.

Included:
  • airport transfer on first and last day
  • hotel accommodations (solo rooms, contact me for sharing)
  • race registration (I'll be registering the group)
  • most meals
  • easy group shakeout run the day before the race a celebration drink at the dinner meal after the race
  • recovery stretch and yoga offered a few mornings after the race
  • all cultural and fun activities in Cartaxo, Sintra, Lisbon, Cascais, Nazaré, and Evora
  • group wine tasting tour with lunch*

*Even though this trip includes a day with a wine tasting tour and most will taste, the focus is on slow travel, active travel, and well-being. While it is not a sober trip, the vibe of the trip skews a bit more toward the sober side. Also, if you want to participate in this trip but don't drink, I can arrange an alternate activity for you that day
